1. Travel documents and booking form

Bring your passport, airline ticket, travel insurance, acccomodation booking form and Covid vaccine certificate. Remember the children’s unabridge certificate. See more: Son-Safari Check-list

2. Covid information

Guests older than 18 must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This means 1 shot with J & J (30 days before departure) or 2 shots with Pfizer or other (14 days before departure). It is not required to have the “booster” shot. Adults and children do not need a Covid PCR test to Mauritius. Get you vaccination cerfiticate online.
On arrival at the resort each person will undergo a free Covid Antigen test (PCR). It is Mauritius legislation and to protect the hotel staff, and everyone at the resort. For this reason, please be extra careful the last few days before departure and  follow all Covid precautions. According to law in Mauritius, hotel guests may remove their masks when they are on the beach, at the pool or at a restaurant or bar.  Read more: Covid /Travel Requirements (PDF)

NB!!! Children 5 years and older, that are not vaccinated require a Covid PCR test to return to South Africa. It can be done at the resort, within 72 hours of the return flight. Please book this at the hotel reception.

3. Airport, transport to resort

Upon arrival in Mauritius, there will be directions to the shuttle buses that will leave for Sugar Beach Resort and La Pirogue Resort. The travel time is +/- 60min.

4. Programme and Programme book

There is a complete programme book, it contains the week’s program, speaker and topic information, as well as entertainment, artists, exhibitions and more. See also day program here.

5. WhatsAPP

Guests are placed on a WhatsApp Broadcast group according to flights, information will be posted selectively.

6. Money

The currency is the Mauritian Rupee and the exchange rate is +/- R1 for MUR2.9. It is also indicated as Rs 2.9.
Credit cards also accepted.

At the Resort

1. Accommodation

All rooms have air conditioning, a bathroom with toilet and shower, TV, telephone, Wi-Fi internet connection, mini bar fridge and a safe.
Also a hairdryer, towels, as well as beach/pool towels.

2. All-inclusive package

The All-inclusive package is valid at both Sugar Beach and at La Pirogue.
All meals and refreshments are included. Please note, at the Buddha Bar not all meals are included.
All drinks (non-premium) is included. Drinking package is valid from 11:00 to 24:00. Coffee, tea and juice are included in the morning buffet and at the conference.
Certain items in the bar fridge in your room are also part of the all-inclusive package and are refilled once a day. See the price list in the room for more information.

3. Internet

Wi-Fi is included and is available in the rooms and most areas, follow the instructions. If necessary, there is an even higher-speed internet available at the boardroom at an additional fee, enquire at reception.

4. Electronic equipment

The South African 3-point plug will require a European 2-point round adapter.

5. Island Theme Evening

Sunday evening is theme night! Think beautiful dresses, bright shirts, flowers, scarves or anything fun and bright.

6. Dress code

It is island comfortable. The dress is informal, but dinners may be a little smarter. Shorts are still welcome. It is warm in Mauritius, but you can pack one thin jersey/rain jacket.

7. Conference

Guests can attend any presentation / session.

8. Excursions

There are many excursions at the resort to choose from. Guests can now book with the agents directly, and transport is not always included. For the full list, prices and contact details, visit www. sonsafari.co.za/ekskursies. There are also certain water sports and activities included in the package. See the program book for more information.

9. Golf

Golf fees are included in the All-inclusive package, but transport is excluded. Please book in advance at the various courses. Golf clubs can be hired at the course and should also be booked in advance. Ile Aux Cerfs Gold Club is +/- 90min away, and Tamarin Golf Club is 15min away.
Transport can be booked with the excursion tour agents, and golf directly with the Golf Clubs.

10. Bills and Tips

For each beverage order, there is still an account to be signed, even if the order is included in the All-inclusive package. No tip is expected, but you can add it on the slip (for all staff to share) or you can give in cash.
